The Torii Armchair is one of the most architecturally expressive pieces in the Minotti collection. Oki Sato of Nendo conceived it as an object that draws from the visual logic of Japanese gate structures — forms that define a threshold without enclosing space. The result is a chair that feels simultaneously open and protective, inviting occupation while maintaining a strong visual identity from every angle.
The metal frame, available in Bronze or Black-Nickel with an anti-fingerprint treatment, connects directly to the upholstered shell without visible hardware or transitional elements, creating a seamless material conversation between the structural and the soft. The high-resilience polyurethane foam shell is shaped to provide ergonomic support while preserving the chair's slender aesthetic profile.
In hospitality contexts, the Torii performs exceptionally well as a standalone accent chair in suite living areas, executive lounges, and private dining environments where a single statement piece is required to anchor a composition. In residential settings, it functions as a reading chair or sculptural accent in a living room or bedroom. The chair's moderate scale and strong silhouette allow it to hold its own in large rooms while remaining elegant in more intimate spaces.
