The Inoda+Sveje design partnership — combining the sensibilities of Japanese designer Kyoko Inoda and Danish designer Nils Sveje — brings a Nordic-Japanese material philosophy to the Yoko Armchair that is distinct from both the purely Italian design tradition and from the individual references of other Minotti collaborators. The emphasis on solid wood as the primary structural and aesthetic material, combined with the restrained formal language and the careful management of the relationship between frame, cushion, and negative space, reflects a design tradition in which material honesty and constructional clarity are fundamental values.
The Canaletto Walnut option — a variety of European walnut grown in the Venetian region and historically associated with the finest Italian furniture production — connects the Yoko to a tradition of Italian craftsmanship that predates the polyurethane-and-metal vocabulary of contemporary furniture design. Its rich, warm grain and natural variation make each Yoko frame a unique object. The polyurethane foam cushion, while conventional in material, is precisely shaped to sit within the wooden frame with a tightness of fit that emphasizes the quality of the construction.
