Christophe Delcourt's Lou Table reflects the French designer's characteristic approach to structural form: treating the base of a table not as a neutral support system but as the primary formal and expressive element of the design. The concave profile — which narrows as it rises from the floor before expanding to meet the top — creates a visual rhythm of compression and expansion that makes the base appear to hold the top in tension rather than simply supporting it from below.
The material options for the Lou's top — Calacatta marble, Nero Marquina, or Santos Rosewood — represent three distinct aesthetic registers within the luxury materials palette. Calacatta marble, with its dramatic white field and bold grey and gold veining, provides the most visually assertive option, appropriate for rooms of considerable scale and architectural confidence. Nero Marquina, the dense black marble with fine white veining, offers a more restrained and contemporary alternative. Santos Rosewood, a warm-toned hardwood with complex figure, connects the Lou to the tradition of fine wood furniture that predates the dominance of stone in contemporary dining table design.
