Kirk Coffee Table

The Kirk's recessed top construction — in which the top surface sits within the laser-cut metal frame rather than above it — is a detail that distinguishes the Kirk from the majority of Minotti's coffee table designs. The recess creates a precise gap between the top surface and the frame edge, producing a consistent shadow line around the perimeter of the table that reads as a fine detail at close range and as a visual definition of the top plane from across a room. This shadow line serves a function similar to the reveal in architectural detailing: it provides visual definition at the junction between two materials, making each material appear more precise and intentional.

The 45-degree beveled edge on the top surface adds a secondary detail that further refines the Kirk's material quality. The bevel catches light at a different angle from the flat top surface, creating a bright line at the top edge that frames the top surface and provides a visual separation between the horizontal plane of the table surface and the vertical plane of the beveled edge. This combination of recessed top and beveled edge makes the Kirk one of the most refined coffee table designs in the Minotti collection from a detailing perspective.
