Twelve is the kitchen system that established Carlo Colombo’s reputation as one of Italy’s foremost kitchen designers. Named for the 12-millimetre thickness of its door profile, an engineering achievement that required Poliform to develop a concealed aluminium structural frame, Twelve achieves an extraordinarily sleek, planar aesthetic that remains unmatched in the luxury kitchen market.
The ultra-thin door creates a visual lightness that transforms the kitchen into a composition of floating planes rather than a collection of boxes. When fronts are closed, the kitchen presents an almost perfectly flat, monolithic surface; when open, the precision-engineered concealed hinges and soft-close mechanisms reveal deep, beautifully organised interiors.
Material options are carefully curated to complement the system’s minimalist character. Fronts are available in lacquered finishes (matt and gloss), natural wood veneers, and glass, each mounted to the concealed aluminium frame that gives the 12mm profile its structural integrity. The completely handleless push-pull opening system reinforces the uninterrupted surface plane, while an optional recessed aluminium grip channel provides a tactile alternative.
Twelve’s monolithic island configurations are among Poliform’s most striking compositions. Integrated downdraft ventilation eliminates the need for overhead extraction, preserving the clean ceiling line. Worktop options include natural stone, ultra-compact ceramic, and stainless steel, all specified and cut to the tight tolerances that the thin-profile aesthetic demands.
