About

Where furniture becomes art.

Le Belle Arti is a modern furniture, lighting, kitchen and custom design company with showrooms in Edmonton and Calgary. In 2026, we mark fifty years of the store that started it all.

Humble beginnings

In 1971, Le Belle Arti opened a glass furniture manufacturing shop in Edmonton. The focus shifted quickly into manufacturing modern furniture in teak and rosewood, supplying several Scandinavian furniture stores across the city.

Then, in 1976, everything changed. The Milite brothers — Frank, Joe and Orlando — opened Le Belle Arti as a retail destination. The new collection combined three materials: exotic woods and lacquers, brushed stainless steel, and glass. Bold yet timeless, it sold throughout Canada and the United States and captured an audience that had never seen anything quite like it.

That manufacturing beginning matters. It is why, nearly fifty years later, we still look at every piece differently. We know how things are made.

The mark we carry

The Le Belle Arti logo was designed by Orlando Milite, one of the three founding brothers. Every element is intentional. The square represents the four corners of the world. The circle represents the world itself. The three lines represent the three brothers. The colors represent the Italian flag, the heritage at the heart of the collection.

It is not a logo designed by committee. It is a founding story compressed into a mark. It has not changed in fifty years because it does not need to.

How the collection grew

In 1997, Le Belle Arti was asked to design and manufacture a modern kitchen, bathroom vanities and wardrobes. It was not part of the plan. Word of mouth changed that. For the next decade, ninety percent of production was concentrated on custom kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities, produced with some of the most refined woods and sophisticated hardware imported from Europe.

The demand grew to the point where a partnership with one of Italy's leading cabinet manufacturers became the natural next step. On September 19, 2008, Le Belle Arti added Snaidero kitchens to its collection, designs created by the world's foremost architects including Ferrari designer Pininfarina, Massimo Losa Ghini, and Lucci Orlandi. A multi-housing division followed, opening the door to collaboration with developers and builders on projects across Canada.

What we are

Le Belle Arti is not a furniture store.

It is an interactive design research centre. A playground for the spirit. An esplanade for discovery. A resource focused on creating environments that affect people's lives.

Every item we carry, from a single object to a sofa, is representative of a unifying design philosophy. It must be aesthetically compelling and comfortable, provide uncompromising quality, and offer genuine value at every step.

We believe in enduring relationships: with the companies we represent, and with the clients we serve. Over fifty years we have built lasting connections with an international roster of designers and with the world's most important manufacturers of modern furniture, lighting, kitchens and accessories.

We are the exclusive Alberta dealer for B&B Italia, a relationship built over decades and a distinction held by no other showroom in Edmonton or Calgary.

Our in-house team manages the full spectrum of the client experience, from first visit to final installation. That has been true since 1976. It remains true today.
