The Flindt Garden began as an idea for a park bollard: in 2011, a more refined alternative to standard landscape lighting was needed for an exhibition installation at Kunsthal Brænderigården in Jutland. Danish designer and architect Christian Flindt designed the first version of what would become the Flindt Bollard, introduced at Light + Building Frankfurt in 2014. In 2021, Louis Poulsen scaled the design down into the Flindt Garden — a compact, flexible bollard designed for residential and commercial outdoor use, available in three mounting configurations and two heights.

The design’s defining feature is a precise asymmetric cut into the cylindrical body, which positions the LED source at the top of the cut so that it illuminates the ground in a soft, controlled downward glow. During daylight hours, the cut creates a play of shadow in the aluminum surface; at night, that same geometry reappears in light. Multiple Flindt Garden bollards can be powered by a single adapter (up to six units). Available in aluminum and Corten finish, with IP65 rating for full outdoor exposure.

About the Designer

Christian Flindt (born 1972) holds degrees from the Aarhus School of Architecture and established his studio in 2003. He works across furniture and lighting design, with a particular focus on the integration of LED technology and sculptural form. His Flindt family for Louis Poulsen has won multiple Danish Design Awards.
