The Flirt Side Table's C-shape is a design solution to a genuine ergonomic problem in modular seating design. Large modular sofas — the kind favored in luxury residential and hospitality environments — typically require users to lean forward significantly to reach objects on a central coffee table, particularly when seated in deep, low-positioned modules where the distance from the user to the coffee table surface is greatest. The Flirt eliminates this problem by allowing the table to be positioned directly beside or partially within the seating module, bringing the surface to the user rather than requiring the user to reach toward it.

The cantilevered top — supported by the C-frame's single vertical element and extended horizontally to overhang the seating module — is the formal and structural challenge of the Flirt design. The flat metal bar frame, which provides both the vertical support and the horizontal C-arm, must be sufficiently stiff to prevent deflection under the loading of objects placed on the cantilevered top while remaining slender enough to slide beneath the sofa arm without catching. The Black-Nickel or Chrome finish options provide material options that coordinate with Minotti's seating hardware finishes, allowing the Flirt to be matched precisely to the seating system it accompanies.
