The Mell lounge chair presents a striking paradox: angular from the outside, round and yielding from the inside. Its frame — a delicate 12 × 12 mm steel skid milled from a single piece of steel — appears too fine to support the generous upholstery it carries, yet it does so with quiet authority. The graphic progression of the seams across the upholstery adds a layer of visual precision to the soft volumes. Available in a low-back or higher-back variant, Mell reads as a piece of furniture that has been thought through to the last centimetre.

Markus Jehs and Jürgen Laub have been collaborating with COR since 2010, designing pieces that consistently extend the brand’s vocabulary of precision and comfort. Their studio in Stuttgart approaches design as a form of engineering: every element must justify itself through function, and the result is furniture that appears effortless while being highly resolved. COR has been handcrafting upholstered furniture in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany since 1954, sourcing leather from southern Germany and fabrics from Italy.
