Poul Henningsen (1894–1967) was a Danish architect, author, and designer, and the most significant figure in Scandinavian lighting design. His PH (Poul Henningsen) lamp system, developed in the 1920s, was the first designed specifically to eliminate glare and diffuse light evenly in all directions without a visible light source. The PH 5, Artichoke, and AJ lamps remain the most celebrated designs in Danish design history.

Louis Poulsen
Louis Poulsen was founded in Copenhagen in 1874 and has been a leader in functional, architectural lighting since its partnership with Poul Henningsen began in the 1920s. The brand's philosophy — that light must be controlled to be beautiful — has produced some of the most celebrated lamps in design history, including the PH 5, PH Artichoke, Panthella, and AJ. Louis Poulsen lamps are in the permanent collections of MoMA New York, the Design Museum Denmark, and institutions worldwide.
