Giuseppe Maurizio Scutellà for Artemide.
The Pirce defies easy categorization as a lamp — it is more accurately described as a luminous sculpture. Designed by Giuseppe Maurizio Scutellà, it consists of a flat aluminum disc that dissolves into flowing concentric spirals, each one thinner and more attenuated than the last, curling downward like the edge of a galaxy in slow rotation. The effect is equally compelling when the lamp is off — a matte white aluminum form of genuine visual weight — and when it is on, generating soft indirect uplight through the spiraling channels.
Pirce has won multiple international design awards and is considered one of the defining statement pendant designs of contemporary Italian lighting. The current LED version integrates a high-efficiency light source at 2700K or 3000K and is available in white or gold finish, in three sizes: Micro (Ø 48 cm), Mini (Ø 69 cm), and standard (Ø 94–97 cm). Due to its scale and visual presence, Pirce is best suited to double-height entries, generous dining rooms, or any space where the ceiling plane is treated as a design opportunity.
