The Mashup Pure Edition

The Mashup Pure Edition antique drops the collection’s usual patchwork, leaving a hand-knotted carpet that keeps the feel of The Mashup range without the pieced together look. Kymo built the Pure Edition line to remove the patchwork, the complicated edges and the anti-slip backing that the rest of the collection carries, so nothing competes with the surface itself. The worn look on the antique version draws on hand-knotted carpets from the Orient, and its knotted mirror design gives the piece a look reminiscent of earlier eras, an effect that comes into its own alongside strong colour.

The carpet is hand-knotted from 100% Indian wool. Its aged appearance is added by hand and with mechanical tools rather than through bleaching, which Kymo avoids for environmental reasons, and because that ageing is applied individually to each piece, no two carpets come out exactly alike.

Because the design is built to read on its own rather than divided by a pieced pattern, it suits a room where the floor covering can carry the space rather than compete with other patterns nearby. Designers working with strong colour elsewhere in a room should let this carpet’s knotted mirror pattern do that work rather than layering it under a busy scheme.
