Up Soft Touch

Tonon’s Up chair is built around its armrests: wide and airy enough that the chair takes its name from the light, raised feeling they give the seat. The shell forms one continuous, sinuous shape, and the taper along the arms and seat is meant to make the chair read as light rather than heavy. That same organic shape is what lets the chair move between a living area, a bedroom or a home office at home, and a restaurant or hotel room away from it.

The seat shell is molded from integral soft touch polyurethane, a material chosen for combining strength with softness. It is produced as a single injection molded body, then finished by hand. Polyurethane does not hold moisture, which works against bacteria growing on the surface, and the finished shell is fireproof, resists deforming and needs little upkeep. The shell has also been tested against a bleach cleaning process, which is what lets it stand up to frequent sanitizing.

Because the shell handles frequent cleaning well, the Up Soft Touch suits hospitality settings such as a restaurant or hotel room as readily as a home living area, bedroom or home office.
