Tolomeo Mega Floor

Tolomeo Mega Floor extends the Tolomeo line, launched in 1987, from a fixed reading light into a taller floor standing lamp that still relies on the same spring driven arm rather than a rigid stem. Where the original Tolomeo puts a directional aluminum head at the end of that arm, the Mega version replaces it with a balanced diffuser, offered in three sizes, so the light spreads as a soft glow into the room instead of a narrow beam aimed at one surface.

The lamp’s structure is built in aluminum, chosen for its lightness and robustness rather than for looks alone. An articulated arm, driven by an internal spring mechanism, lets the height and tilt of the head be adjusted by hand, so the same fixture can be angled toward a chair for reading or raised to bounce light off a ceiling instead.

As a floor lamp, Tolomeo Mega suits a living room or a reading corner where a tall, adjustable light source is more useful than a fixed ceiling fixture, and its reach lets one lamp serve both a nearby chair and the wider room around it. Because the arm has to be repositioned by hand, it works best where there is room to move it without other furniture in the way.
