Angie “Dining”

Angie Dining builds its shape from one contrast: a stiff saddle-hide or leather wing that wraps around the chair like an outer frame, set against a soft, upholstered seat and back inside it. The wing is built from expanded structural Baydur using two separate moulds, one for the padding and one for the hide or leather shell, so the rigid outer form and the soft interior each follow the same curved line. The same contrast shows on the back of the chair, opening the door to combining saddle hide with a different fabric inside.

Underneath the shell, the frame is metal, coated in flexible fire-resistant polyurethane foam with a softer additional insert, then wrapped in a breathable, heat-bonded fireproof fiber. The seat sits on the same kind of metal structure with elastic webbing suspension, and the cushion is filled with channeled goose down, certified to the Assopiuma Gold Label standard, over a Memory Foam core. The legs are cast aluminum in a polished Pewter finish, connected at the rear by a single curved, bow-shaped bar rather than four separate leg lines.

Two versions of this dining chair exist: the shell version, with its saddle-hide or leather outer wing, and Angie Cover, upholstered entirely in fabric or leather with no exposed shell. The shell version’s seat cushion and inner lining are fabric only and fully removable; Angie Cover’s whole upholstery comes off just as easily. The shell reads as the more architectural choice, Angie Cover the softer one.
