Dan starts from a single geometric idea: the circle, broken down and reassembled the way an artist reduces a shape to its essential lines. That process shows up most clearly in the legs, which curve inward and meet a shared crosspiece rather than standing as four straight supports, so the base reads as one continuous rounded form rather than a frame.
The legs carry two different finishes at once: a matt, dark lacquer on the outward-facing side and a bright, polished metal on the inward-facing side and crosspiece, so light catches the underside of the table in a way a single flat finish would not. That same idea continues into the top, where a band around the perimeter is finished in wood rather than metal, framing a central surface that can be specified in marble, back-painted glass, or a dark lacquered wood, each reading very differently against the same rounded base.
Dan comes with a round top in three sizes and a rectangular top with softened corners in three more, which lets the same base anchor either a compact dining setting or a longer table for a larger room. Because the base does most of the visual work, a stone or glass top keeps the table cool and reflective for a bright dining room, while the lacquered wood top gives a warmer, more contained look suited to a smaller or more traditionally furnished space. Designers should treat the top material as the variable that sets the table’s overall tone, since the base and its two-tone finish stay the same across every version.
