Kirk approaches the coffee table as a set of combinations rather than one fixed design. A transparent bronze-toned glass top is designed to let the base show through, so the finish of the metal becomes part of what is seen rather than something hidden underneath a solid surface. That base comes in a satin metal finish, worked thin at 6 mm, in tones from a warm bronze to a brighter gold, achieved through an electroplating process that also adds hardness and resists rust and corrosion, which matters on a surface handled and leaned on daily. An opaque pate de verre top, by contrast, hides the base entirely and gives the table a denser, more solid character.
