Quadrado Outdoor Sofa

Quadrado takes its idea from the teak duckboard on a yacht deck, a slatted surface built to let water drain straight through. Minotti turn that pattern into a modular outdoor system of suspended square platforms, and the sofa is one of the seating pieces built on that grid. Modules combine with coffee tables, ottomans and tray elements into a single outdoor landscape rather than a set of separate furniture pieces.

The teak frame is why it lives outside without special care: solid Tectona Grandis of First European Quality, 40 mm thick, kiln-dried and CNC-machined, assembled at 45 degrees with finger joints reinforced by dowel pins, on an underframe painted for outdoor use. Cushions on the wooden base use high-resilience polyurethane foam over a waterproof fibre core, wrapped in water-repellent polyester covers, and even the hinges and yarn are specified as waterproof.

The system comes in a larger 102 module for generous living areas and a more compact 87 module for tighter terraces and hospitality settings. On a residential terrace or beside a pool, the sofa combines with matching coffee tables and ottomans to read as one continuous deck. Designers should fix one grid size before laying out a composition, since combining platforms is the whole point of Quadrado.
