Magda’s design idea is an enveloping upholstered backrest, curved around the sitter rather than sitting flat against their back, paired with a frame that can be read as a considered piece of woodworking in its own right. That combination lets the same chair move between a dining room and a small armchair role depending on the room it is placed in.

The frame is solid wood, in a range of finishes, built with or without arms. The seat and back are upholstered in fabric, micro nubuck, synthetic leather, or soft leather, and the cover is not removable once fitted, so the choice of material is a decision made at the point of ordering rather than something changed later.

Magda suits a dining room that wants an upholstered chair with a wood frame doing most of the visual work, and the same family includes a matching stool, so a kitchen counter and a dining table can share one design language across two seat heights. Designers should settle on the wood finish and cover together, since neither is removable once the chair leaves the workshop.
