Richer

Richer works from one simple structural idea: two thin discs of satin-finished aluminium, joined by a curved band that acts as both the base of the table and a visual counterpoint to the flat, quiet surfaces above and below it. That combination of a light metal top and base with one connecting curve is what gives the table its rounded, lightweight look rather than the more rigid feel of a table built on straight legs.

The two aluminium discs are finished in a satin Malt colour and only 6 mm thick, while the curved band between them is clad in brushed larch veneer with an open-pore Licorice lacquer finish, so the metal reads as thin and precise while the wood band gives the piece some warmth and grip for the eye. It sits on a base finished in matt black lacquer with adjustable feet. Richer comes in two sizes with different proportions, and the shorter of the two adds a rotating disc built into its base as a Lazy Susan tray, turning it into a small serving surface as well as a table.

Its light, rounded profile makes Richer suited to sitting right beside a sofa or a lounge chair, somewhere a boxier table would feel heavier than the seating around it. The taller, narrower size reads more like a slim side table tucked into a gap, while the shorter, wider version with its swivel tray works well wherever small objects need to be kept close and easy to reach, such as beside a reading chair. Because the top and base are both thin metal discs, the table also works well doubled up at slightly different heights next to one longer sofa.
