The Shoto side table takes its name from an idea about how furniture gathers in a room: the way a scattering of separate pieces can work together the way islands form an archipelago. The oval shape and the tray like detailing along the top edge run through the whole Shoto collection, giving each piece the same understated, quietly considered language even though the pieces are read individually.

This version of Shoto pairs a wooden tabletop, offered in maple, ash, oak or walnut, with a powder coated steel base, putting it among the lighter, more casual tables in the collection rather than the fully wooden ones. The transitions from the flat top down into the tray like rim are built to run smoothly from soft curves into straighter lines, which is where the collection’s precise detailing actually shows.

Because each Shoto table is sized to sit as one part of a small grouping rather than as a single dominant piece, it works well set beside a sofa or an armchair as one of several low surfaces placed around a seating area rather than a single central table.
