Stchu-Moon 01 Floor Lamp

Stchu-Moon starts from an unusual decision: instead of aiming a bulb at a room, it hides the light source inside a shaped hemisphere and lets the interior surface do the work of spreading it. That interior surface is deliberately uneven, so the light bounces and multiplies across its irregular contours before it ever reaches the room, turning what would be a single point of light into a broader, softer glow.

The hemisphere itself is aluminium, its interior surface roughened and lined in a metallic leaf, with the exterior finished in matte black so the eye reads the lit interior rather than the shell around it. Inside, the light source is held on a lamp holder made of steel spoons.

Because it stands directly on the floor rather than a table or console, Stchu-Moon works as a freestanding accent in a living room corner, beside a lounge chair, or wherever a room needs a low, ambient source of light rather than task lighting from above. A designer specifying it should plan floor space for it rather than a side table.
