The Jacob writing desk extends a family built around occasional tables into a genuine place to work, keeping the same material choices so a home office can share its language with the living room pieces from the same collection. Rather than treating the desk as a separate object, Minotti gives it a chest of drawers in wood with a matt black lacquer finish, giving the desk a companion piece for concealed storage at the point of use.

The top is offered in two directions: a glossy lacquer in Sand or Mud, or a Sucupira veneer with a stained Mink finish, both in 20 mm MDF over a structural panel in laminated MDF with a matt black finish. The drawer unit is built in solid brushed oak with a black finish, its upper and lower plates in satin-finish metal with a Bronze painted finish, resting on protective felt glides. Inside, two shallower drawers and one deeper drawer are built in 20 mm MDF with matt black interior and exterior finishes, and the two shallow drawers carry a removable saddle-hide liner in the bottom of the drawer, a detail that treats a stationery drawer with the same care as a piece of leather goods.

In a home office or study, the Jacob desk suits a client who wants a considered writing surface rather than a purely functional one, and pairing it with the Jacob accent tables elsewhere in the room ties the scheme together. Designers should decide on the lacquer or veneer top early, since it sets the tone for the black-finished drawer unit beside it.
