Connery Seating System

Connery’s seating is built around a single wide cushion for the seat, stitched lightly to mark its width, in two seat widths, with the backrest and armrest forming one continuous padded volume that meets at an angled split in the corner rather than a hard seam.

The structural base is raised off the ground on thin blades of extruded aluminum in a polished Brandy finish, positioned toward the front of the piece, which gives the sofa an airy look and echoes the metal fittings on a piece of luggage. That same idea carries into the Flap shelves built into some modules, low surfaces for setting down objects, finished either in leather using the same technique as fine leather goods or in ash veneer with an open-pore Moka lacquer. The base itself can be upholstered in fabric or wrapped in bands of leather stitched together with the same luggage-crafting technique, and the headrests attached to the system adjust freely rather than locking into one position.

Connery’s range runs from long chaise-longues to freestanding circular elements that sit near the main sofa like an atoll, which makes it suited to a living room built around a loose, conversational layout rather than a single fixed sofa wall. Because the Flap shelves are part of the seating rather than a separate side table, designers can plan surface space directly into the composition instead of adding pieces afterward.
