Quadrado Coffee Table

Quadrado takes its idea from the teak duckboard on a yacht, a slatted surface made to let water run straight off. Minotti turn that into a modular outdoor system of square platforms that appear suspended above the ground. These coffee table platforms are the working surfaces of that system: the same square language as the seating, fitted with trays or candle holders, so a table is simply another module in the composition.

The construction explains why the idea holds up outside. The platforms are solid teak, kiln-dried and left in a natural finish, machined on CNC equipment and assembled at 45 degrees with finger joints reinforced by dowel pins, and the duckboard pattern keeps water from standing on the surface. Beneath, the underframe is metal painted for outdoor use.

On a residential terrace or beside a pool, a Quadrado table placed between seating modules becomes part of one continuous outdoor landscape rather than a separate object. The system includes a compact module for smaller urban terraces as well as a larger one for generous living areas, and Minotti position it for hospitality as well as homes: hotel rooftops, resort decks and lounge areas suit its informal, composable character. Designers should plan the table and seating modules together from the outset, since the composition is the point, and decide where trays and candle holders fall before the layout is fixed.
