The Quadrado Outdoor Sofa’s modular logic — based on a 102 x 102cm unit grid — reflects Marcio Kogan’s architectural approach to outdoor furniture design. Rather than designing a sofa of fixed dimensions, Kogan conceived the Quadrado as an outdoor landscape system: a set of modules that can be combined in any configuration the space and program require. This flexibility is particularly valuable in luxury resort contexts where outdoor living areas must accommodate varying numbers of users, different configurations for different times of day, and the specific spatial constraints of different terrace and poolside environments.

The solid Teak grating construction of the base provides a material warmth and natural texture that connects the Quadrado to the garden and coastal environments for which it is designed. Teak’s natural oils, which provide protection against moisture and insects without chemical treatment, make it the preferred choice for exposed exterior furniture in coastal environments. The open grating construction allows rain and irrigation water to drain away rapidly, preventing puddles from forming on the base surface and allowing the furniture to be used again promptly after rain. At only 340mm seat height — significantly lower than conventional seating — the Quadrado creates a genuinely relaxed, close-to-the-ground seating posture that is appropriate for extended outdoor lounging.
