Feel Good Armchair

The Feel Good line spans chairs, armchairs, dining armchairs and stools built from one shell language, and the armchair is the version sized and cushioned for settling in rather than sitting at a table. Its defining decision is the base: a lightweight, uncluttered support offered as a swivel or a fixed metal leg in Flexform’s own design, or as an alternative version with swivel or fixed legs in solid wood, so the same shell can sit on either a slim contemporary base or a warmer, more traditional one.

The armchair’s shell keeps the range’s enveloping profile, built from structural polyurethane and polyurethane foam, with the seat cushion padded in goose down rather than the firmer foam used on the family’s dining chair. A Feel Good Soft version adds extra padding through the seat back along with a further layer of Dacron and memory foam, for a softer sit than the standard armchair. As with the rest of the range, the covers are fixed rather than removable, so the fabric or leather chosen is finished onto the shell rather than fitted as a loose cover.

Because the armchair can be paired with a matching ottoman-footstool from the same line, it works as a reading or lounge chair in a living room or a bedroom sitting area where a place to rest the feet matters as much as the seat itself. A designer choosing between the metal and wood base should treat that decision as the one that sets the room’s tone, and the swivel option is worth specifying wherever the chair needs to turn toward a conversation rather than face one fixed direction.
