Lawrence Sofa

Lawrence works from a low, continuous line rather than a stack of visibly separate cushions, and the clearest decision in the design is the choice between two armrests: a thinner high armrest, or a lower, more substantial one that doubles as a place to rest a cushion when lying down on the sofa.

A metal perimeter frame in a Black-Nickel finish outlines the sofa, while a set-back base in a matte black-painted metal alloy holds it slightly clear of the floor, which both lightens its appearance and protects the lower edge. The stitching along the seams is deliberately visible, in keeping with a design built around the idea of fine leather craftsmanship, and the range includes a Cervo leather option prized for its softness and grain. Seat cushions are reversible and filled with channeled goose down over a high-resilience polyurethane core, while the lumbar cushions add a memory foam insert; every cushion cover comes off in both fabric and leather. The armrests themselves can be released from the base with a quick coupling system, which makes removing the fabric covers straightforward.

In a living room, Lawrence’s two armrest heights let a designer mix pieces from the same range without the seating looking uniform, and the Clan elements, with their more graphic stitching, suit a scheme that wants a slightly more contemporary edge within the same family. Because the sofa is built from separate wood-framed elements with elastic webbing rather than one fixed shell, it composes well into long or L-shaped arrangements for larger rooms.
