The West Seating System is among the most formally experimental pieces in the Minotti portfolio. By adopting a hexagonal module geometry rather than the conventional rectangular format, Rodolfo Dordoni freed the system from the linear configurations that characterize most modular seating, enabling curved, angled, and fully non-linear arrangements that respond to architectural features — curved walls, angled plan forms, circular rooms — with a flexibility that rectangular systems cannot achieve.
The saddle-hide backrest supports, available in a range of leather grades, add a material dimension that is unusual in the context of upholstered furniture. Saddle-hide — a firm, vegetable-tanned leather traditionally associated with equestrian and luggage-making applications — introduces a contrast of texture and material character against the softness of the upholstered seat elements. This contrast is fundamental to the West system's visual identity and contributes to its strong presence in contemporary interiors that seek to combine luxury with a degree of material rawness.
