West Seating System

West is built on a faceted, hexagonal geometry that breaks with the rectangular language of most modular seating, most directly in a chaise longue offered in pentagonal or hexagonal form. Certain elements carry a backrest finished in saddle hide, shaped to rise and support the cushion behind it; those elements are a deliberate visual break within an otherwise upholstered composition, interrupting the fabric surface and lightening the volume at the back.

The seat sits on a solid wood frame with elastic webbing, its foam given a concave contour so the cushion settles into the structure rather than on top of it. Armrests and backrests are finished in a channeled goose down quilt, a soft contrast to the firmer saddle hide elements nearby. The base is a set of extruded aluminium strips in a polished finish that lift the composition off the floor; detaching them is the first step in removing any cover, in fabric or leather. Cushion cover material can be chosen independently of the main body for a contrast rather than a match.

West suits a living room built around a faceted profile rather than a conventional rectilinear sectional, and the pentagonal or hexagonal chaise longue suits a corner a standard chaise would not fit.
