Lawson Armchair

Lawson’s defining move is putting two materials to two jobs in the same chair: leather follows the curved line of the backrest as it turns into the armrest on one side, while fabric-covered cushions on the other keep a softer, more tailored feel. The family runs from a small lounge armchair to a larger easy chair and full sofas built on the same wrap-around form, letting one idea scale across very different pieces.

The seat sits on a solid wood frame, its foam shaped with a concave contour so the cushion settles into it rather than sitting on top. The metal-framed backrest is coated in fireproof foam and wrapped in a heat-bonded casing before the leather or fabric goes on. Seat and backrest cushions are filled with sectioned goose down over a support-foam core, giving a soft top layer over a more structured base, matching the leather and fabric contrast in the design. Covers come off completely in both fabric and leather, though a small number of decorative covers are fixed. The armchair rests on semi-curved metal blade feet in a polished or chrome finish; some versions are instead built on legs finished in wood or clad in leather.

The compact lounge version suits a bedroom corner or small reading nook a full-depth armchair would not fit, while the larger easy chair and sofa suit a living room on the same wrap-around language.
