The Leslie bergere takes the wing-back’s traditional promise, a sense of being partly enclosed, and builds it from two separate foam shells: an outer structural shell facing the room and a softer inner shell meeting the body, with an added layer of memory foam laminated into the inner shell where a person actually leans. The result reads as formal from outside and feels considerably softer within.

The outer shell is molded expanded structural foam, upholstered only in leather since the material must keep a crisp, tailored line under tension. The inner shell can match in leather, or shift to one of the collection’s fabrics for a deliberate contrast. The seat sits on a solid ash base in an open-pore moka lacquer, on legs of polished pewter cast aluminium, while a steel pocket-spring insert keeps the seat holding its shape rather than settling flat. The inner cover comes off when it is fabric, stays fixed when it is leather, and the outer leather shell is never removable.

The bergere’s partial enclosure suits a chair meant to be sat in for a while, a reading corner or a fireside pairing at home, and the same quality suits hospitality lounges and waiting areas where a guest should feel briefly set apart from the room. Because the outer leather cannot be swapped later, that choice is effectively permanent, while the inner surface can still be varied in fabric for anyone wanting to update the accent without reupholstering the whole chair.
