Jacques Sofa

The Jacques Sofa began from a design seed shared across the whole collection: take a vaguely retro shape and turn it into something that reads as contemporary. Soft, curved forms and compact proportions keep the sofa light in a room even where the cushioning is generous. Stitching runs along its curved lines, and the same rounded language appears across the sofa, the bergère armchair and the ottomans, so pieces from more than one read as one family.

Underneath the soft shape is a firm build: metal coated in fire-resistant polyurethane foam, with the 160 cm sofa carrying extra, softer foam laminated to the backrest. Seat suspension is high-rubber-content elastic webbing, and backrest and seat are covered in breathable, heat-bonded fibre before upholstery. Backrest cushions use goose down over a Memory Foam core, and every cover is completely removable in fabric or leather. The sofa’s base is a semi-curved metal blade, distinct from the full perimeter base on the armchairs and ottomans, in a polished Bronze finish.

Because Jacques keeps compact proportions and a consistently soft language, Minotti place the whole collection in both residential rooms and hospitality interiors, and the sofa pairs easily with newer seating systems for a softer accent. Its rounded lines sit well against the more formal, angular shape of a piece like the Lawrence sofa. Designers should pair the sofa with the matching bergère or ottoman where a project calls for a full seating group, since the shared stitching and base finish are what read as one composition.
