Awa Table

Awa breaks from a table built around a fixed footprint. Its top is asymmetrical rather than a plain circle or square, and it is framed as a service table meant to be moved to wherever a room needs an extra surface, rather than a piece with one assigned spot.

One version is built in Cristalplant, a dense material made from a mineral filler of aluminium phosphate bound in a polyester acrylic resin, finished in white, and set on thermoplastic ferrules. A second version is built in hard polyurethane, offered in a satin or a glossy finish, with an internal steel pin and plate giving the shell its structure and felt pads underneath so the table sits quietly on a hard floor. The Cristalplant version comes only in white, while the polyurethane version is made in a wide range of satin and glossy colours, so the choice is between a quiet white object and one that adds colour to the room.

Because Awa has no fixed use, it suits a living room as a low side table beside an armchair, a plant stand, or a spare surface pulled up next to a sofa when extra space is needed. A designer working with more than one Awa in the same room can mix the Cristalplant and polyurethane versions, since the two materials read differently even though the shape stays the same.
