Cesar Stool / Side Table

Cesar starts from a single question: how small an object can be and still do two jobs well, working as a stool one day and a side table the next. It is built as one continuous molded volume rather than an assembly of parts, which is what lets it move between uses without looking like a compromise.

The body is molded in structural polyurethane and finished in a glossy or a scratch-resistant matt lacquer, then set on protective felt glides so it can be moved easily between rooms. An optional cushion turns the same shape into a proper seat: it is padded in high-resilience polyurethane foam, covered in a breathable fiber laminated to white cotton canvas, and a steel weight built into the cushion keeps it from sliding on the lacquered top. The cushion cover itself is completely removable, and the base of the cushion is finished in a non-slip fabric.

Cesar’s size makes it a flexible piece rather than a fixed one: as a stool it adds occasional seating around a coffee table without needing its own dedicated spot, and as a side table it works beside a sofa, an armchair or a bed. Designers should decide up front whether the cushioned or bare-top version suits the room, since the two read quite differently side by side.
