Hamilton Seating System

Hamilton’s defining decision, since it first appeared, has been to keep the seating close to the floor on a slim metal base that reads almost as a frame around each module. That low, compact profile is what let a single modular system be built out into three distinct versions, Hamilton, Hamilton Sofà and Hamilton Modulo, without losing a shared identity.

The seat structure is built in solid wood, prepared with high-resilience polyurethane foam and a first lining of fiber thermally bound to white cotton cloth, with woven elastic straps giving the seat its give. Seat and backrest cushions are padded with channeled goose down over a high-resilience polyurethane insert, and the fabric version comes apart for cleaning by removing the external base, while the leather version stays fixed. The metal frame is offered as an oval section with a polished Black-Nickel finish or an anti-fingerprint Bronze finish with black back feet, or, for a different reading, as an open-pore Moka-stained ash that drops the metal perimeter base altogether.

The system’s flexibility suits a living area asked to do several jobs at once: relaxing, working, entertaining and conversation, since compact modules combine into arrangements sized for exactly the space available rather than a fixed sofa footprint. Designers moving between a traditional and a more contemporary interior can lean on the same modules by changing only the metal or wood base finish.
