Lithos starts from a specific job: storing and displaying valued objects so they stay visible and are still easy to reach. The low display tables are built to sit at the centre of a room rather than against a wall, which is what lets whatever is inside be viewed, taken out and put back without the piece having to be moved or opened from one side only.
That access comes from the construction. A transparent glass top sits over a painted metal frame, with a middle top and pull-out trays built in wood beneath it, and the trays themselves are finished with a leather-covered base rather than left as bare wood. Lithos comes in two sizes, and the same low-table idea extends into a related range of square, rectangular and circular coffee tables with marble or wood tops for use beside seating rather than for display.
Placed centrally, Lithos suits a living room where a collection is meant to be part of the room rather than kept behind glass on a wall, and it works equally in a retail space. Designers should think about which contents the table is meant to hold, and choose between the two sizes accordingly.
