Eucalipto

Eucalipto’s carcass is finished in a continuous glossy acrylic resin, and the doors and drawer fronts are built in three different finishes on that same case, in mirror, in glass or in wood veneer. The idea is that one storage structure can carry three quite different reflective qualities depending on which front is specified, without changing the unit underneath.

The internal and external frame is built in MDF and wood particle panels wrapped in that glossy acrylic resin, while the doors and drawer fronts are MDF wood fibre panels finished in mirror, glass or a wood veneer. The case sits on a metal support frame with legs in die-cast aluminium, with a die-cast aluminium handle, and inside, a glass shelf and an extractable tray built from aluminium profiles over a melamine faced base add practical storage without adding visible bulk. A cable flap in aluminium and an integrated LED lamp are part of the specification.

Eucalipto is built for a living or dining room that needs a piece of furniture to draw attention, whether as storage near a dining table or as a display case along a living room wall. A designer choosing between the mirror, glass and wood veneer fronts is deciding how much the piece should reflect the room versus read as a warmer, solid object, and the glass shelf and internal lamp should be planned together with the front chosen.
