Kirk’s nightstand is built on a contrast: a glossy Granite-lacquered body sits on slim Bronze-finished metal legs, and the drawer front breaks from both in a glossy Ebony. The pairing of three distinct finishes on one small piece is the design argument, not an afterthought.

The body is built in 45-degree assembled MDF, 25 mm thick, in a glossy Granite lacquer. The drawer front is a composite ebony veneer with a glossy transparent polyester finish outside and a matt ebony finish inside, and it opens on full-extension guides with a push-pull mechanism, so the front stays clean of any handle. The legs are satin-finish metal, 8 mm thick, painted in Bronze, set on protective non-scratch rubber glides.

As a bedside companion, Kirk’s small footprint and handle-free drawer suit a primary bedroom where the nightstand needs to stay visually quiet next to a larger bed, and its mixed finishes let it sit beside furniture in either wood or lacquer tones. Designers should note the push-pull opening when planning how much clearance the nightstand needs from the bed frame, since there is no handle to allow for.
