Husk Bed

The Husk bed’s headboard carries the whole idea of the piece: it is built with a strong presence on its own, yet engineered to accommodate a box spring, so a feature meant to be looked at also has to do a specific structural job. Underneath the upholstery, the bed is built on a tubular steel and steel profile frame, with the headboard and the bed sides each padded separately in a shaped polyurethane foam under a polyester fibre cover, so the tufted surface holds its shape rather than flattening with use. The bed stands on feet in die-cast aluminium and steel sheet, and the slatted base is carried on a tubular steel support crosspiece. The cover comes in fabric or leather, and the choice changes how the tufting reads: fabric gives the pattern a softer, more textile presence, while leather sharpens the same geometry into something more tailored.

As a bed, Husk suits a primary bedroom that wants a headboard to act as the room’s focal point rather than a plain backdrop, and because it comes in four sizes it can be scaled to a smaller guest room without losing the tufted detail that defines it. Designers should settle on fabric or leather early, since that decision does more to set the room’s tone than the size of the bed itself.
