The Borea Outdoor armchair’s design decision sits in its frame: a single run of tubular and sheet aluminium, bent into one continuous, jointless line from seat to arm to leg. B&B Italia borrows the metal bending and curving processes used in the aeronautical sector to shape that curve, carrying a technique built for lightweight structural parts into outdoor seating. The result is a frame that reads as one uninterrupted gesture rather than an assembly of welded sections.

Comfort comes from a deep cushion built around a polyurethane section of varying density, wrapped in a padding of 100% recycled polyester fibre; the padding in a single Borea armchair is made from 280 recycled PET bottles. Plastic ferrules protect the base of the frame where it meets the ground, and B&B Italia supply a waterproof protective cover in PES cloth coated with polyurethane on one side.

Because the collection covers chairs, tables and small tables built on the same tubular frame, Borea can furnish a terrace, poolside seating area or garden room as one family of furniture rather than a lounge chair paired with unrelated pieces. Its low, generous proportions suit a lounge corner meant for long sitting. The covers come in a wide range of fabrics, so a designer can match the cushions to the rest of the outdoor scheme.
