Husk Outdoor Lounge

Husk Outdoor’s design argument is comfort built from a hard shell: a one piece shell in Hirek®, a plastic material made from recycled and recyclable polymers, shaped into a capitonné, deeply quilted profile, then given extra soft, generous cushions rather than left as a bare resin seat. B&B Italia frames the whole collection around comfort and eco-sustainability together, treating the recycled shell material and the soft cushioning as one design decision.

The shell sits on a base frame of aluminium profiles finished with a polyester powder coating for outdoor exposure, with ferrules in plastic and stainless steel where the frame meets the ground. Cushions come in two configurations, one with more volume built into the seat and one with more built into the back, so the same shell can be dressed for a seat led or a back led feel. Upholstery is polyester fibre throughout, covered in a water repellent polyester fibre, and a waterproof protective cover in PES cloth coated with polyurethane on one side is part of the specification.

As an outdoor lounge chair, Husk Outdoor suits a covered terrace, a poolside lounge corner or a garden seating group where a deep, cushioned chair is wanted without the upkeep of an outdoor sofa. Designers grouping several Husk Outdoor chairs together should choose one cushion configuration throughout a seating group, since mixing the seat led and back led versions changes how each chair reads.
